Little O' This, Weight

Remount

I didn’t so much fall off the wagon. It was a slow descent. It started with the Day From Heck where the only solution seemed to be a piece of pizza smothered in my most faithful condiment, ranch dressing. Then there were those salt and vinegar chips on the table, taunting me. Then a slab of birthday cake. C’mon, it was my baby’s birthday! The next day was our fifth wedding anniversary and we went out for a nice dinner. There may have been oven-fresh bread dipped in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. There may also have been Caesar salad, a creamy pasta dish and a small (it was tiny, really) package of Junior Mints for dessert (I’m classy like that). And the next day, before my parents left to head home to the prairies, there’s a chance we might have gone to the ice cream parlour and partaken of some rather large cones.

It was the first time in nearly two months that I let myself lose track of my Weight Watchers points. And it was a beautiful thing.

Surprisingly, I didn’t gain an ounce and am back on track this week.

We all need a little room to breathe and undo the top button of our jeans every now and again.

  • Adorable picture. I don’t think Avelyn is worried about the points. Hey, you gotta let yourself go every now and then and again and again. I do :) Weight Watchers is a great program though. I am a lifetime member (lost 51 pds) and am trying to maintain it. It ain’t easy…

  • Cute! I did the same for my daughter’s first birthday – let her rip into it. It was great fun!

  • Moderation is a wonderful thing! You enjoyed some goodies, and it all worked out just fine :) Good work!

p.s. The cake is so cool! I love the colors.

  • Yes, there are definately those days/weeks, (for me months!) that you just have to give in to. Good for you though, for getting back on track! Again, that cake was a beauty!

  • A-MEN!!!

  • The nurse asked me yesterday (after giving Duncan a needle) if I would allow her to give him a chocolate sweetie as a treat (maybe the bags of rice cakes gave me away as one of those mothers who are anti-junk food). But what are treats for if not treats? Good for you – and glad to hear that your anniversary was lovely – ours is in a few months and I’m already planning my night out (we have to hire a babysitter at an exorbitant hourly rate so I want to make sure I enjoy myself).

  • Junior Mints! I forgot about those! And yes, everything in moderation, right? :)

  • Good luck getting back on your program. As long as you feel good, you know what your body needs most.

  • You’ll do fine. I lost 40 lbs. on WW and had to cheat at least once every two weeks. If not, I would start to feel really, really deprived and then over-eat. Just get back on the wagon and you’ll be fine.

  • Did you make the cake yourself?! It’s beautiful!

  • Pizza slathered in ranch dressing. There is nothing so lovely in the entire world. And you’re right, we all need a weekend off now and again. I’ve been in New York for the last 3 days, and I’ve let myself have REAL cokes (not diet) while here. Because I’m not often in New York, and I may as well give myself a “when in New York, real cokes are okay” rule because, honestly, WHY THE HECK NOT?
