For the past two nights I have been having mild contractions and back ache. The contractions are about 8 minutes apart and last for 20 seconds. Each round of tightenings has me praying that the next will be more intense and painful (a strange plea, I know…begging for pain to come). But to no avail. After about four hours of these contractions, they stop. I wake up and there is nothing going on. Today I am going to see the doctor and she is going to strip my membranes (I’m sure it’s going to feel as delightful as it sounds) to try to speed up the process. I am hoping that this procedure will be the cataylst and I will be in full-fledged labour shortly. Poor membranes. It seems like you’ve been pregnant forever. If your baby isn’t born today or tomorrow, I’ll have to keep popping into the office over the weekend to check your blog and see how things are progressing.

I don’t even want to think about membranes right now! Oh how I remember being poked and prodded and 12 extra days of trying to pursuade Belle to join us. I hope this is the only time you have to go through that!

I had my membranes stripped while I was in early labour and it wasn’t too bad – more than worthwhile if it speeds things up! I’m thinking of you!
