At my doctor’s appointment yesterday I learned something: getting your cervix checked out is really not an enjoyable experience but it’s worth having a physician dig around inside to tell you that you are almost one centimeter dilated and about 50% effaced. That’s right, folks, things are happening down there and the baby is engaged and in position to make her appearance! There’s no telling how long it will be until labour begins, but it’s very reassuring to know that things are headed in the right direction (quite literally). Every little pang, twinge, cramp, slowing of fetal movement, softer than usual stool, or back ache has me wondering if the beginning of labour is upon me. What a waiting game this is! I can’t believe that I have already used up three weeks of my maternity leave! The time has flown and I am grateful for that. Between scrubbing the ever-darkening ring of doom from our tub to laying sprawled on a beach blanket on the sand, the days have passed mighty quickly. I thought I was going to be bored, sitting in my bedroom with the tiny air conditioner cranked to the max, wolfing down gummy bears. No siree, I have been outside every day and enjoying the sunshine with good friends.
I could get used to this whole "never work in an office again" set-up.

Glad to hear things are heading in the right direction! Hope your days continue to pass quickly!
as one who is working in maternity and saw many babies being born today, i can say you’re in for a real treat! :) good on you for waiting. it’s best for both you and the baby when you can let your body and the baby do their own thing. you’re a great mommy already!
Yes, once you quit work it’s so hard to go back. It’s not a hard choice- swirly office chair with annoying co-workers or beach blanket with your baby? Easy.
This is so exciting. I can’t wait to see pictures!
I am so excited for you. It makes it seem so real knowing that it could be only few days until you take home your daughter. It’s incredible. God bless your family!
Way to go, that’s awesome to hear things are getting ready for Baby Brown to arrive, I can’t wait to have someone else to talk to that has a tiny baby also.
I agree with Jen the decision is an easy one.
Glad to hear things are progressing. My friend (due the same time as you) had her baby last night. I am working Sat, Sun night so start drinking that raspberry leaf tea and maybe I’ll get to see you.
Don’t go back! Stay at the beach with us!
And I better be on your list of people to call. I want to snuggle that baby ASAP!
Hey a full moon is on it’s way…
Congrats on the progress! Even though it is no fun to get checked, at least you found out that progress has been made! Every little bit counts.
maybe it’s because I missed that time off before the baby arrived but I’m already planning to bring my wee one to the office with me in a few weeks to catch up on loose ends. I just wish I could do both at the same time – work and cuddle my baby. Family comes first, but I get a lot of satisfaction out of working too.
well it is good to hear that things are moving in the right direction!!! maybe she will come out this friday on the 14th and share my birthday!!!!!
