For the first time in 38 weeks I have not gained any weight. How strange it was to not have the scale bounce up a few pounds at today’s prenatal weigh-in. Pleasantly strange. The doctor said the baby is still growing, but my body has reached a plateau, and this thrills me. My (realistic) goal was to gain around 40 pounds and now, at 38 weeks, I have gained about 39 pounds and seem to be holding. If I go a few pounds over my goal, I’m not going to sweat it, but it’s nice to see things slowing down somewhat.
According to the doc, the baby doesn’t seem to have dropped after all now. She’s says it’s not uncommon for it to enter and exit the lower part of the pelvis, but I was sure that since all of the pressure on my ribs had been relieved that she had dropped. Apparently not. And I have had no signs of false labour. This kid could potentially be chilling out in my uterus for another four weeks, which is INSANE. Really, she wouldn’t do that to me, would she?
Today I flipped the calender over to the month of July and it hit me that this month is the month we will, for certain, meet our baby. How nuts is that? Quite nuts.
It’s still a tad too sweltering here these days. Steve did install the air conditioner last week and I have been singing his praises ever since. My night time hours, though fraught with frequent urination and bizarre dreams, are cool and comfortable and it makes a huge difference. Hooray for Steve!
We also bought a video camera this week and I am excited about this electronic addition. It will be so cool to be able to have footage of our little girl’s life, right from birth to her first taste of solid food to her awkward first steps to her first day of kindergarten. And so on, and so on.
I wish I could go to BlogHer this summer and kiss the feet of all the famous bloggers I have come to "know" and love, but I don’t think that an eight day-old infant would be the ideal travelling companion.
Maybe next year.
Or, we could host a Canadian version of BlogHer here in Summerland.
Any takers?

Sounds fantastico!
:)
Hmm, the word that comes to mind is obsession. But any excuse to get together is a good one.
Good for you on being so close to your goal. You should be proud of yourself and have a slurpee or two to celebrate:)
There really are blogging conventions?
My cousin in Penticton had a baby girl yesterday and named her Annaliese! I almost did a double-take when my mom told me. I had never heard that name until you started blogging about it.
