It’s hot. Really, really hot.
And I am tired. Really, really tired.
How’s that for a great opening hook?
Seriously, the heat sucks all the creative juices out of me. I try to replenish my inner fountain with extra big slurpees and lots of freezies, but it’s like dropping pennies in a cursed wishing well.
(Heat also makes me melodramatic.)
My first week of maternity leave was BUSY! I was afraid I was going to get bored, but I actually felt a little too occupied.
Some highlights:
1. Last Thursday Steve and I went to the same resort we spent our wedding night at for a little "babymoon". It was weird to think that four years ago we were just starting our new life together and now there is another new, tiny life growing inside of me.
2. We baby-sat Jordan’s and Jen’s daughter, Abby, on Friday night while they went to the same resort to celebrate Jordan’s birthday. I use the pronoun "we" loosely. Steve watched me chase after the sweet little girl and he let me have the honor of tending to her when she roused at 5:45 in the morning. He told me, "You’re going to be a great mom!" To which I replied, "You are going to be an absentee father!!" (I was emotional and tired and my ribs felt like they were on fire. Pregnant ladies are allowed to get mad at the men who knocked them up!)
3. I had a prenatal appointment on Friday and the doctor said that the baby has dropped! Hooray for things progressing in the right direction! Since then my ribs have felt much better and I can breathe and sneeze and poop without fearing that my ribs are going to snap into a million pieces and puncture all of my internal organs.
4. Yesterday we spent the whole afternoon at the beach, zooming around the placid lake in the ski boat, soaking up the sun, and quickly hopping in the still-chilly water.
I need to go and chomp on some ice cubes now.
Bye.

Too hot indeed! ugh …
I’m glad your first week of mat leave went by quickly for you. I hope the remaining weeks are a little more restful for you.
I’m glad it’s just the heat and busyness that has kept you from blogging, my over active imagination got away with me! Good luck keeping cool.
Sounds like you guys have had a great week besides being over heated. I love the heat! (sorry) A beaumont summer is so diffrent to a Victoria summer. I’m loving it! Bettina
May the next few hot sweaty weeks pass quickly so we can meet your luscious baby. If they don’t we’ll be spending ALOT of time at the beach.
As if we won’t be anyways.
I remember the horrid aching hot in my last few weeks of pregnancy and I so feel for you, Mama.
(You and your hubby are way too cute, too)
Glad you guys got a chance to enjoy eachother before the lil one comes! He will end up being a great dad! Don’t worry! Stay cool!!!
I feel your pain, but maybe not to a 37 week extent :)
Hope you find reprieve from the heat – come to the beach!
Yello Amanda,
Kristin gave me the link to your blog – hope that is ok as I have been enjoying it immensely. I just wanted to say congrats on the arrival that is “coming soon”. Can’t wait to see pics!
P.S. “Stop looking at my butt”
