Yesterday morning was a doozy. I was about ready to pack a small suitcase and head for the hills with nothing left behind except a note that read, “Call me when this is over and the kids are back at school and there is more to my existence than the endless loop of cooking and cleaning. It’s been a real slice!”
Then I sent myself to bed after lunch for what I affectionately call a Rage Nap, and after about 45 minutes of rest I felt like a human again, like someone who could DO THIS.
The ups and downs of this whole quarantine/homeschool/house-arrest situation are just so extreme sometimes! This video captures it really well:
Aside from a couple of those unexpected emotional dips, we are all doing fairly well. The girls are finally finding a bit of a groove with the online learning and we have been enjoying more time outside. Things recently enjoyed include:
Foil-wrapped banana boats stuffed with chocolate chips roasted over a driveway campfire. Keeping it classy.
Fragrant blossoms and fresh green sprigs of grass.
Physically-distanced hikes.
Bookwormy kids. Karenna inhaled the Hunger Games series, reading a book a day and now we are all watching the movies together.
Steve has been super busy with his work as President of the BC Tree Fruits Co-op but when he has a few slivers of free time, he has been able to get out with the kids. He took them gold-panning!
Carry on, friends!
