This summer kicked my rear. Hard. There came a point mid-August where I found myself wondering if the psych ward could come and pick me up, because I was ready and waiting at the foot of my driveway in a homemade straight jacket. I won’t bother with the details, just know that I was beyond exhausted and stretched and yeah. Long month.
Anywhoozers. It’s September now! Yay! Kids should be school but aren’t (what the heck, BC?) but it’s ok. The weather has changed ever so slightly and fall is my favourite. Fall means soup and pumpkin lattes and homemade biscuits and ALL THREE OF MY KIDS IN SCHOOL.
When I scroll back through all the photos on my phone, I marvel at all the fun we have had in the past couple months, even though I was so tired out for most of it. Maybe that’s just how life goes? I don’t know.
This photo of Avelyn is like a punch in the gut; she looks so grown up and on the cusp of adolescence. So not ready.
Steve has been around more this summer than any on record and the balance in our home is so much better when he’s near.
Karenna has the music inside of her.
Mackie is the son Steve never had. They spoon everyday.
Brin turned five! Poor kid’s birthday fell on the same day as my big bike race so was somewhat overshadowed but we made it up to her with a family party and a friend party and a whole lot of ice cream cake.
My mom turned 60 so the whole family came out to Summerland to celebrate. We took her on a trail ride.
At the very end of the Challenge triathlon, we were able to cross with our kids. Here are the three members of our team with our gaggle of children.
Here’s to fall!

How are our girls almost preteens? HOW?!?
Awe, you’re a star!! Happy to get a blog post from you ;) I’m also looking forward to back to school, even though it will just be one of the three going. Something about the routine is feeling very fresh to me right now!
Aw happy to see you had a good summer.
