Yesterday we had dinner at my mother-in-law’s home. After a few hours of visiting we stood to up to leave and as soon as I was on my feet I got this crippling, deep, shooting pain in my very lower pelvic region. I tried to take a step but could not. I felt my abdomen to see if it was hard to the touch, perhaps signalling that I was having a Braxton Hicks contraction, but no, my tummy was not extra-hard. The pain was localized and acute, and lasted for about a minute, then it stopped. When we were driving home Steve made me laugh about something and when I let out a giggle, the pain came back. That was the last of it. Since then I have felt like there’s more pressure on my lower pelvis, but I don’t think the baby has "dropped" yet. Maybe she’s getting ready to or something. When the baby drops deep into the pelvis it’s referred to as "lightening". If it feels like it did last night, then I think it would be more appropriately called "lightning".
Crotch lightning, to be exact.

crotch lightning…yet another aspect of pregnancy to look forward to. :)
SHAZAM!
I remember it all too well – I always assumed they were just kicking in the wrong place :)
Not looking forward to it starting up again!
Just everything getting ready. She may have very well dropped. After Jaia dropped, which I don’t really remember exactly WHEN he did, I had to get up slower, and not twist that part of my body but move my whole body around to see somthing or whatever. Things are getting ready. Woo hoo!!!
That’s exactly what I called it too! Just ask Jord. I complained about it all the time.
I had similar pains about 1 month before Kynan came. I thought forsure I was in labour, but I wasn’t. Everyone said he would come early, but he didn’t. He was 10 days late. Take er’ easy though. You are about to burst!!!
Ah yes…I too remember that “lovely” feeling. I always had to curl up in a ball to sneeze because if I didn’t I got the “crotch lightening” FULL force.
Not much longer now…very exciting for you!
Crotch lightening is right. But of course in my day I did not think of it as that. I just thought it was @@%&****@ hurting me when I was trying to sleep.
