My Girl

First Grade, Firstborn

Something has changed in her.

She has become self-aware.

There is a boy her in class who gives her butterflies in her tummy.

She doesn’t like to wear her hair up; she prefers it down by her face.

She wants to have the whole world figured out before she takes a step.

She is still the girl we’ve always known, but she is growing and changing so fast, it’s a little crazy. I find myself thinking back to those days when she was a chubby little baby, then a cranky toddler, and then a defiant, dramatic preschooler and now here we are, and she’s just so beautiful and smart and kind (and still totally dramatic) and I can’t believe it’s been over six years since she flew into this world.

  • My goodness she looks so much like Steve. Such a gorgeous little girl. And I can’t believe she’s in the first grade and already getting butterflies! It goes way too quickly!!

  • She is so beautiful, and smart, and kind. It makes me tear up! This picture says it all, I wish I could be around to watch them grow up!

  • I started reading you when she was a baby, and every time I look at photos of her, I’m shocked anew. She’s stunning and I miss your posts here an awful lot. This was lovely.

  • Why does it go by SO FREAKING FAST?
