My Girl 2.0

Moral Compass Slightly Askew

The tangled circle of three year-olds settled in for story time at Sunday School when the husband of the teacher came in and told the kids, “You guys! I lost some money. Can you help me find my money?” (The kids didn’t know it, but this was the start of a hands-on object lesson.)

All the kids hopped to their feet and scoured the room for the lost loot. No one found anything (much to their disappointment) so they all sat back down again and the lesson continued. A few moments later, the wife of the guy who was missing the money walked in and exclaimed, “Hi, kids! Guess what! I am SO LUCKY! I found a bunch of money on the floor in the other room! Isn’t that great?”

Some of the children piped up, “Hey, that’s Mr. E’s money! He lost it and was looking for it. You should give it back to him!”

But she egged them on, reasoning, “But he doesn’t know I found it. I don’t have to tell him, do I?”

Most of the kids insisted that she do the right thing and tell Mr. E about the money, but then Karenna locked eyes with Mrs.E and whispered, “Just put it in your pocket. Way deep,” she explained as she mimed the action.

Yeah, I think we need to keep taking her to Sunday School.

  • Hahahaha!!!!! Sooo funny, she was probably being more honest than the rest of the kids. I think sometimes kids (and adults) know the right thing to do, we will can tell you the right thing to do, but when it comes down to it, doing the right thing is hard. She was showing you, it’s hard – and also pockets are AWESOME for hiding stuff.

  • That is the greatest kid ever.

  • Haha. You gotta admit this is pretty funny!
