We’ve been living a whirlwind! Avelyn’s birthday, Steve’s and my anniversary, a trip to Vancouver…we are all tired out, but from having fun, which is the best kind of tired.
Anyways, here are a few photos from the recent adventures. How is my baby five? We had a fun birthday party for her (went with the miniature theme so everything was “mini”, like bobbing for mini apples, all of the snacks were miniature, etc.) with her friends, then a quieter family birthday gathering on her actual birthday.
Then we crammed all three kids into the truck and drove to the coast to visit Steve’s family and see the sights. The trip to Vancouver really brought out the differences between Avelyn and Karenna. Avelyn spent hours combing the ocean shore for shells and rocks;
Karenna stood on a big rock and danced while singing silly songs.
At a petting zoo, Avelyn got as close to the animals as she could and was the freakin’ chicken whisperer;
but Karenna liked to keep her distance from the four-legged creatures.
Seeing how different our girls are, all three of them, makes me so curious and excited to see who they will all grow up to be.
We had a great trip, making lots of time for excursions, time with family, shopping trips and plenty of coffee breaks. But now I am ready to sleep for a WEEK. Having three kids is exhausting, you guys. Whose idea WAS this?

I stumbled on your blog through a friend quite a while ago and I always check in because I have three girls almost exactly the same age as yours! We live on Vancouver Island. Ya, three kids is crazy. We use the sports analogy of moving from an offensive game (with 2) to a defensive game (with 3). It’s crazy around here too. You guys look like you have lots of fun!

This made me smile! You’re a great mom. :)
Reading your blog is always such a delight – you have a lovely, lovely family and an outlook on life that I just find wonderful. I’ve been reading Kickyboots for about two years now; it is like a sweet little spot of sunshine on the Internet!
3 things… 1) For your safety I’m not going to tell Bethany you drove through Chilliwack with Avelyn and she didn’t get to see you 2) Our girls can be night and day like that too, and it’s awesome. It means they’ll be buddies and enemies and life won’t ever be boring 3) DUDE, Your kids are freakin’ cute!
And that’s all.
Was Karenna scared of all the animals, or just the bunnies? Glad that you had a fun trip!
I know we just talked about your trip, but DUDE. That chicken shot is awesome. (So are the others – I just love the action in that one.) :)
Great photos! My kids are all so different from each other too. It makes me want to have more just to see how they’d be. It’s hard to imagine different from what you have until they arrive.
I’m with Ashley … DUDE, Your kids are freakin’ cute.
my goodness, that second photo and the one of the chicken in flight are AMAZING. I love when the contrast between siblings is so defined… it’s easy to love them all the more for how they are uniquely themselves. (As if as parents one needed a reason). Happy Anniversary, by the way
