So, we’re still working on the baby name issue, although neither slings nor arrows have come into play. We’ve been having nice, civil discussions about the possibilites and while I am still a little panicked by the thought of how soon the baby will be here and we will have no name to bestow upon her(/him?), I am having a bit of fun again dreaming of what to call our child.
I have had people comment on our surname, which is Brown. They tell us how compatible that name will be with whatever we choose as a first name.
I, however, beg to differ.
See, with such a plain and common last name, we can’t choose a plain or common first name, for fear that our child would be a dull, stick-in-the-mud sort of person. On the other hand, we can’t choose something really exotic because Alejandra BROWN just doesn’t really have a good flow to it. And then there are a bunch of other names that we can’t use. Allow me to illustrate:
Sage Brown ("hmm, isn’t it sage green?")
Autumn Brown ("the leaves withered to a pooey shade of autumn brown")
Bronwyn Brown ("call me Bron Brown, that’s cool, right?")
Saffron Brown (don’t laugh, I think Saffron is actually kind of cool, but saffron itself is kind of yellowy in colour, and Yellow Brown is a lame name)
Anyways, we’re working on it and I can’t wait to finally decide on something, even if it’s when our child is 2 years old and has lived her toddler years known as "Baby".
In other exciting news, my friend Kaili had her baby the other day! She gave birth to a healthy baby boy name Jaia Hendrix and he came a week early and after a mere seven hours of labour. I am so thrilled for her! But it makes me that much more eager to meet my baby. All in good time, I know, but now I’m the only hugely pregnant chick in our group of friends while Tianna, Christy, and Angella are all sporting the teeniest, cutest little bumps I e’er did see.
Last night at our final prentatal class we learned about breastfeeding and watched some instructional videos.
I have never seen nipples so huge.
I took a recent belly shot today and will post it later tonight for your viewing pleasure. Henceforth all profile photos will be taken from the left side, so as to conceal the stretchmarks. Leave it to me to get random, misplaced stretchmarks. Usually they come on the hips or the underpart of the belly, and if you get some on one side you tend to get them in a symmetrical fashion on the other side as well. Not me. About a month ago I noticed four little dots to the right of my belly button and they have gradually been clawing their way down my belly (better down than up though, right?). I am still soaking my gut in cocoa butter every night, but I fear the damage has been done. Ahwell.
Are you enjoying this disjointed entry? We don’t have a name picked! Here are some names we think are stupid! Kaili had her baby! I saw big nipples last night! I took a picture of myself! I have stretchmarks!
When my access to blogging is limited I try to spit everything out all at once.
Forgive me.

Good to hear from you- no matter how random the post. :)
Thank you for posting. As you hopefully know already I think you’re great, but Saffron is NOT an acceptable name. I will petition the internets to stop you should you select Saffron as the baby’s name. Please don’t do it.
Thanks for the warning, Will. As I mentioned, we will NOT be choosing Saffron. :)
I know you said it, I just wanted to make sure to say something, just in case.
Sienna? Kidding….
I envy your problem. Naming/having our children was the highlight of our lives.

You could just go with Poop Brown and see what kind of delightfully ironic sense of humour your baby grows up with – that is, if she can survive on the playground.
Can’t wait to see the picture.
Hey, my bump may be small now, but I’ll be HUGE in August (and hot!), while you and Cutie Brown are nice & cool, sitting on your swing :)
I have an old high school friend named Cody B. Brown. (AKA Kodiac Bear Brown).
Also, I don’t even know you but if you name your child Saffron, I will be forced to e-sign Will’s petition.
Being a girl who came from the name Brown, you should also consider she may not be ?? Brown forever. A last name for a girl isn’t necissarily for life, so don’t let go of one you like cuz it doesn’t zing when you put Brown after it. Plus, if your baby has a name that not many others have she wont be referred to by her last name as often as we were!
I have an A name NOT to use ~ Avis. It reminds me of a car rental company but I’ve heard of two women named that in the last day. I also like Avril, but I think I’d go with that more if I was having a girl in April in Montreal so that probably won’t happen!
Don’t worry about the stretchmarks, most of us have them – I for sure do. I am proud of my stretchmarks and my little c-section belly, cause it reminds me of my little girls. The name, I know is so hard to decide on, because you will be hearing everyday. We were so certain on Vayda but Tessa took us a while to decide on cause I actually thought we were going to have a boy. Anyways, I know you guys will find the perfect name for your baby girl. The other thing we did was not share the name with anyone before baby was born, cause then everyone had to like it!!!!
You have to come up with a name, as Baby Brown is not acceptable, it should be Baby Blue.
And the picture above is flawless.
