Spring is here and I am in love with: the warmth of the sunshine, afternoons at the park watching the girls play while I sip on a mocha, the way the light streams in through the windows in the mornings and coaxes me out from under the covers, play-dates with friends where kids dig in a sandbox and actually behave like civilized little humans for a while, Cadbury Mini Eggs, laps around the yard on tricycles, clean floors (short-lived though they may be), girls’ nights in, kettle corn, extra pulpy orange juice, and early bed times.
Winter is such a dreary season and it always amazes me just how much my mood improves and my heart awakens (pardon the CHEESE) come the spring. Our kids are about 675% happier when they’re playing outdoors so I’ve been shipping us all into the sunshine for big parts of every day and we’re all better for it.
The house is coming along grandly and we should be moved back in in a couple month’s time. Here are some photos of the progress:
Here’s Steve and the girls in what will be our new dining room, with covered deck off to the right.
And aren’t you pleased with the landscaping? The kids have seriously never been happier playing in the yard with all the random planks of lumber, rusty nails and a lavender bathtub. We might just leave it like this.
And the tired, dusty man who’s been working non-stop to make it all happen. Go, Steve!!
There are now paint colours up on most of the walls and the flooring starts to go in this week! Wahoo!
Let’s celebrate with some Cheerios in classy plastic bowls!
PS: My latest post is up at urbanmoms.ca and it’s about parenting styles and philosophies. I’d love for you to chime in with your thoughts.

I agree with all your loves except pulpy orange juice. I HATE pulp. Any pulp. Extra pulp? Yuck.
But so stoked on the house! I’m excited for it to be done for you.
And my kids are 675% happier outside too :)
Can’t wait to see the finished product… how exciting! Also, we have that trampoline. =)

Everything is looking so good! I adore the kitchen/great room and with the big windows and serene wall colors, you notice the view so much more. I love it!
That is quite a good-looking family you’ve got there :D
can’t wait to see the finished product! It must be so exciting to see it evolving before your eyes… And that quilt? Exquisite. Not to mention the girls on it…so darling. :)
Wow! Had no idea you were doing a gut job! The lavender tub is banished!! Love the updates, can Steve come do our bathroom next??? PS~ thanks a million for the white noise suggestion(maker from wally world) a while back, saved our sleeping dude, and us!! We live in a small 2 bed where the LR is right outside his door. We actually bought 2!!
That is so exciting to see the progress! I was wondering how the reno was going! Hope you’ll post more pics – especially when it’s all done!!
LOVE!!! Missing you guys so much, especially when I see how much Karenna is growing up! She looks HUGE in Steve’s arms!!!
Sweet! I know that you also will be excited to show the final product!
Totally with you on the need for sunshine!!
Too bad we couldn’t get together this week… next time! We had to drive by your house for Brandon, and my 2 year looked at your house and said “it’s beautiful!”.
