Sour Apples

Hey!  Here’s a picture of Avelyn running laps around the deck last weekend:

She’s fun (and looks to be about five feet tall).  But wait, what’s that in the distance, behind her?  A whole schwack of freshy picked apples scattered all over the dirt?  Couldn’t be.  Could it?

Oh yes, it could.  Talk about ending on a sour note.  This was the last of the year’s apple harvest and Steve was loading up the bins on the trailer when they toppled over to their juicy demise.

No hope for salvage.  Poor Steve.

Ending on a sour note seems to be a common theme ’round these parts.  Like, say, every time I take Avelyn to the park.

Then she inevitably ends up in a collapsed heap, tantruming in the crunchy autumn leaves, because her life, obviously, is nothing but trials.

  • There’s no way to save the apples? So sad! I’d come and eat a few – they look delicious!

  • Woah! That is a lot of apples on the ground. I am so sorry. Can you guys still eat them? Make Cider? What a bummer.

That last pic of Avelyn in the leaves is priceless! I thought – oh what a pretty shot! And then I saw her scrunched up face and started cracking up. :)

  • That totally sucks. I can’t imagine all the hard work that went into picking all those apples.

EVERYTHING in a toddler’s life is trivial, and everything is tantrum worthy. I’ve also got a child that has a huge head start on the Terrible Twos. I think they started when she was about 14 months old.

I love the sweater Avelyn’s wearing in the first photo!

  • That is so so crappy. Better start baking some apple pies woman.

p.s. aren’t you glad you weren’t the one doing something to have caused the “topple”.

  • Ack! I hate when you guys have farming problems. ugh. This sucks so bad. I just think of all that hard work, of all the time sacrificed, of all the evenings without your hubby.

Avelyn is cute, even when she’s in a heap on the ground.

  • I’m sorry to hear that about the apples :(
Avelyn is quite the little cutie though!

  • The last photo, which I will refer to as “Losing One’s Crackers in the Leaves” is easily one of my most favorite kid-photos. Like ever. Not just on this site. Ever.

  • Can the apples be used for something else like cider or apple sauce? I hope so.
Avelyn’s curls are so adorable, I’m very envious of those locks.

  • Oh, that stinks! Are you seeing apple sauce in your future??? Avelyn is so cute – even when mad!!!

  • noooooo!!! poor steve! And clearly Avelyn is so distraught from the loss of apples.

  • boooooo. We like picked apples, not fallen ones! Trev’s beside and and his heart sank when he saw the picture. Pass on our sympathy to poor steve and bob – that’s a lot of work laying on the ground! :(

On the bright side, Avelyn looks as cute as ever! :)

  • Great content! Keep up the good work!

  • So sorry about the apples..that just sucks. Avelyn is adorable though..even lying amongst the leaves.

  • Send those apples my way! I bake them in bread and pies… so I don’t mind them being bruised. :)

I loooooove apples! And we eat tons of them. Why can’t MY hubby be an apple harvester? Sheesh.

And those last two pics of Avelyn are WONDERFUL. I love the attitude! lol

  • i LOVE your pics amanda. besides the apples being dumped…i hope things are going good. miss you.

  • Sorry about the apples – poor Steve. That has got to be so much work laying there. I would still buy them!

Avelyn = SO CUTE. I think in that second last picture she totally looks like Trevor for some reason, the way her expression is. Stella also has a fit about leaving anything fun. Its so great. I also take pictures ;)

  • I didn’t know about the apples!

We’ll buy some – I still need to make applesauce :)

  • Apple sauce! Yikes.

She is a spirited girl, I have one of those… they turn 13 one day, and the tantrums look remarkably the same.
