Right now Steve is out hauling couches and dressers and mattresses down four flights of stairs for good friends of ours who are moving. When he comes home he is going to pick me up a slurpee.
One of the things I have always loved about Steve is his willingness to help out friends and loved ones; he is often more generous with his time that he ought to be but I admire his selflessness.
Also, he is willing to go on a slurpee run whenever I ask him too.
That’s another very admirable trait in a man, I say!
This photo was taken a few hours before Avelyn rocketed into the world. Steve had watched me get an IV to replenish my fluids and the sight of the needle being eased into my vein made him so woozy that he nearly hit the floor. Did I ever tell you about the time he passed out when I had my wisdom teeth removed? Funny story…for another time.
What amazes me is that he came close to fainting from watching an IV insertion but had no qualms videotaping the entire birth, making outrageously good use of the zoom function in places that had never been zoomed in on ever before.
I didn’t think I wanted our baby’s birth to have such intense documentation that leaves literally nothing to the imagination. But now that we’ve got those gory moments captured on film and I have watched them for myself, I am so glad. I cry every time when I see Avelyn’s entrance to our lives and I relive the feelings of exhilarating relief, supreme love and overwhelming joy as they placed her on my chest each time I see it.
Steve just arrived.
He forgot my slurpee.
I still love him.
I guess.

My dad swooned in the delivery room too. That’s why men don’t have the babies. :)
Steve really is selfless with his time. I rarely see him doing something for himself. He’s a great catch. He would have been an even better catch had he remembered your Slurpee.
Hmm..he must have his dad’s memory :P
He’s a keeper…even without the slurpee :)
I suppose you can cut him a break on the Slurpee.
