Life of Leisure (Bah!), My Girl

Dale’s Meadow

I suppose it is inevitable that the only time my baby would sleep for longer than an 11 minute stretch would be when I am pushing her in her stroller on our 5 km jaunt.  There I am, working it up the hills, willing my thighs to firm up with each uphill stride as the sweat seeps into the corners of my eyes.  All the while, Avelyn snores contentedly, blissfully unaware of her mother’s efforts. The walk did us good, though.  It always does.

Being the foolish "It’s September So I Refuse to Wear Summer Clothes Anymore" girl that I am, I was roasting in my long black pants (yes, I am an eediot).  I must work on that seasonal complex.  The air in the valley swirled in short, cool bursts that kept me from evaporating.  And I think it was wildlife day today, too.  I was appoached by goats and a particularly curious llama with chicklet teeth.   There was also a terra cotta colored horse who galloped towards us (he was in a fenced field, as were the goats and llama) and trotted alongside our path for a while.

It’s time for dinner now.  Prime rib steaks, pasta and salad.  Yessss.

  • I, on the other hand, have mostly summer clothes, so I’ll probably wear them until October :)

Good for you doing 5km! I’d join you, but pushing my two in the stroller just isn’t an option right now :)

  • Wow, 5k sure sounds like a lot. I hope you have great weather for a while more to do that!

  • Sorry I missed the walk, Robin said you were in. Next time?

  • Everyone else is commenting on the walking but I wanted to comment on the food … YUM! What else did you eat today? ;)

  • walking with my baby is the best. If he’s tired, he sleeps, and if he’s rested he sits up and looks around. The one thing he almost never does is cry, so we spend tons of time in the stroller every day.
